Our products are made and handled by human hands across many processes — so a little variation in colour, finish and overall look is part of their character.

Product properties

The colours you see on our website depend on the accuracy of your monitor, so subtle variations should be expected.

When shopping online, keep in mind that there may be a slight variation between the product images and the actual item. Individual device screen settings, the lighting where a photograph is taken, and differences in photographic lighting can all affect how colours and design appear. While we strive for accuracy, these variables mean the actual product may not be an exact match to its digital representation.

Wash-care instructions are displayed under each product description on our website, and these wash / dry-clean instructions must be followed very carefully.

Please do not spray deodorant, mist or perfume on the garment directly — and avoid this entirely on Gold & Silver prints.

Sizing & fit

Each garment is draped and fitted differently — the fit depends on the cut, fabric and styling of the piece. Some are more fitted and some more relaxed. Our Size Guide will help you choose based on your body measurements.

Fabrics & prints

We use premium fabrics for all our garments, hand-sourced by our team. Most of our prints are hand-printed and may vary marginally between batches. All photographs are for representation and are shot to look as close as possible to the original product, but may carry marginal colour variation from the actual product.

We use an “all-over print” design for most products, so the positioning of the artwork may differ from that shown in the picture. A slight difference in colour from the product image is possible — a camera or monitor cannot always match the perspective of the eye, and this slight difference is unavoidable.

This product is hand-block printed and vegetable dyed. The print may have slight irregularities in the motif and colours, which result from the human involvement in the process and are a hallmark of handcrafted products. Since the fabric is dyed using natural, vegetable dyes, it may rub dry or bleed colour on first contact with water.

Gad, Reikh and Datta blocks

The gad is carved in intaglio and is used to print large background figures, leaving a very slight zig-zag border effect on the fabric. Rekh and datta are carved in complete relief; rekh blocks also mark the outlines of the motif.

Washing care

Handwash lightly with a mild detergent. Do not soak any cotton dress, and do not wash it with another garment. Dry inside out in the shade. Dry-cleaning is ideal, but hand-washing also works.

Taking care of your clothes will keep them looking good and fresh for longer. The guidelines below will help you prolong the life of your cotton pieces.

  • Water is precious — wash garments only when necessary. Airing them after each wear keeps them fresh for a couple of uses.
  • Wash our garments by hand. Do not put them in a washing machine or dryer.
  • All our cottons are either handloom-woven or hand-block printed, so moderate shrinkage may be expected.
  • Be very careful with fragrance on handmade clothes — the ingredients may lift the print or stain the fabric. Spray lightly into the air in front of you, then walk into the spritz.
  • Some fabrics may shed excess colour. Certain ikats and block-printed textiles are prone to bleeding; in such cases, dry-clean with a reputed dry-cleaner. Otherwise, wash carefully by hand.

Sorting

Sort clothes colour-wise and wash only similar-coloured garments together.

Soaking

Add a small quantity of mild detergent to a half-filled bucket of cold water. Soak the garment in the soapy solution for five minutes — no longer. Pre-soaked garments must be washed immediately.

Rinsing

Gently rub soiled areas by hand. Do not use a solid bar of soap or a brush. Rinse the garment a few times in cold water to remove the detergent completely.

Starching

A final dip in a diluted solution of liquid starch gives the garment a crisp finish. Do not wring too much.

Drying

Drying under the sun causes colour to fade, so hang clothes out in the evenings or in shade. Hang garments straight on rust-proof hangers (plastic or wooden).

Ironing

Do not iron directly on block-prints, embroidery and the like. Turn such clothes inside out and iron lightly.

Storage

Store garments in a cool, dry place away from sunlight. Keep whites and light colours away from darker garments, and use aromatic sachets to dispel cupboard odours.

Silk & silk blends

Silk and silk-blend fabrics must be dry-cleaned only. Store carefully in cloth covers with a few scented sachets.
